State Agencies and Programs
Connecticut Department of Agriculture The Department of Agriculture works to foster a healthy economic, environmental and social climate for agriculture by developing, promoting and regulating agricultural businesses; protecting agricultural and aquacultural resources; enforcing laws pertaining to domestic animals; and promoting an understanding among the state's citizens of the diversity of Connecticut agriculture, its cultural heritage and its contribution to the state's economy.
Connecticut Department of Public Health The CT Department of Public Health is home to several programs that work toward improving health and nutrition of Connecicut residents.
State Department of Education The State Department of Education (SDE) supports nutrition programs in a wide variety of settings through the administration of federal grants provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Includes School Breakfast, School Lunch, Summer Food Program and the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
Department of Social Services The Department of Social Services (DSS) provides a broad range of services, including Food Stamps and Nutrition Education, to the elderly, disabled, families, and individuals who need assistance in maintaining or achieving their full potential for self-direction, self-reliance and independent living.
